Stem Cells
Stem cells are unique in our bodies as they can form a complete range of cells to rebuild injured tissue. In many cases it now seems they work by providing the environment for other specialised cells to work. I have been using these cells, grown from a patient, in their own blood serum, to heal their own fractures more quickly. This is part of an ethically approved randomised trial and is allowing people to get back to a normal life after many other operations have failed. Nine of the first ten patients have healed their fracture, and one other of the ten healed but has come back with a new fracture after a fall.
