Lautenbach for Chronic Osteomyelitis

I was in an audience at a fracture meeting in Sheffield when Charles Lautenbach gave an amazing talk on his management of chronic osteomyelitis. Infection in bones is very hard to treat, and he has devoted his work to this problem in South Africa. Luckily he was visiting Steve and Helen Eisenstein at the weekend and as they live nearby in Oswestry I was able to pick his brains and get all the details. Later Rhidean Morgan-Jones, my trainee, went to visit him on South Africa and has also an expertise now in this technique.

I have treated over 100 patients with this technique, and been able to clear patients of sinus and pain for up to ten years. At 5 years almost 80% of patients are pain free and have no sinus, despite having many-failed surgical attempter at eradication of infection prior to this Lautenbach technique.
